Manufacturing of an Arthur Cue, on customer request - The production of a custom cue can take occasionally  from 6 up to 15 months. The cues run through many process steps and are cut several times (viz. brought to diameter). After each step or massive intervention (like integration of inlay work) the wood can start "working" again. Although the wood was embedded for a long time (most over a few years) , it still has a small percentage of humidity left. So the wood has to rest after every production step.

A cue is a natural product of wood, exotic wood, noble materials such as gold, silver, nacre, malachit, turquoise and so on. You can't buy these materials around the corner. A tough market of supply and demand rules! Therefor for some woods a lumbering-ban is called out to regulate stock and to obtain the trees. In this case beautiful woods like the cocobolo become rare, expensive and hard to get. In Germany there is only little chance to buy cue-building materials. Almost all articles must be purchased worldwide and we have to depend on the honesty of our traders, who should deliver proper goods. A claim of not 100% good material ist almost impossible... we are too far away! Enormous transportation costs and long shipping ways make the buying even harder.

It often happens, that materials look alright at first sight. But after a few process steps it gets clear, that the material is not suitable (example: in the 7th step of 9, suddenly unsightly brown sugar-embeddings appear in the shaft. The customer wants first-class quality - so we have to start all over). The supplier won't take the material back, because it has already been machined. Then the production time takes longer and the deadine for production decelerates for a few weeks. Bad luck for both parties!

In our own interest we ALWAYS try to keep deadlines in time. Delays are always infuriating - both for the customer and for us! If production time takes longer than planned, this always has a reason. We ask for understanding - for we don't produce off-the-peg work... we manufacture high-class unique products! You will surely be satisfied with the result, even if it takes longer than planned...
